Announcing Blues Rising I Workshop: March 9-11th, 2007 in San Francisco, CA

Blues Rising Teacher's Summit I

When: December 8-10th, 2006
Where: San Francisco, CA
Who: The teachers of Blues Rising I
Schedule: Tentative Schedule
Attendance is optional, but recommended!

Our future plans for Blues Rising is to have semi-regular workshops that often invite out new teachers to the national scene. Interlaced with those workshops, we plan on holding "Teacher's Summits" for people interested in the art of teaching blues dancing.

Eventually the Teacher's Summits will be open to all interested parties, but this first, somewhat informal get together is mainly directed at the instructors of Blues Rising I.

Many of you have not had experience teaching blues (or perhaps any dance) at a regional/national weekend event. We believe that this is a task you are all capable of - this is why we have chosen you, but many of you have material to create/polish for Blues Rising.

The Teacher's Summit gives you a chance to work on this material in a (semi-)structured setting with your teaching peers. We plan on having more of these, and you can be at our historical first event!

As mentioned above, attendance is optional, but we recommend it. Besides, it's going to be a fun weekend! There's a number of things happening that weekend in SF:

  • Kermit's birthday.
  • Dave's ex-birthday party.
  • Haley's belated birthday
  • Karissa's birthday (Seattle)
  • Sara's birthday (Seattle) (and hence many Seattle-ites are coming down)
  • Heidi and Charlie are teaching a workshop.
  • The BluesRising crew is meeting for a teacher's summit.
  • Tangoed Up In Blues is bringing Tina (Austin) out for a special weekend.
We are calling this the:

SF Blues Combo

Heidi has graciously offered the teaching staff of Blues Rising a discount to her workshop that weekend if you're interested in going. We'll be talking more about what time we'll be working on material later, but we'll make some space for Heidi/Charlie's workshop on Sunday if people are interested.
Prices for Summit attendees are: $50/weekend, $30/Sunday.
